The ‘Reader’ star, who won the Best Actress Academy Award at last week’s ceremony, is planning to display the famous statuette in an strange place in her home.

She was so excited when she won her Oscar that I was surprised to find out that she is keeping her beloved gold man in the toilet!

Kate – who is married to Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes – said: “The statue is going in the toilet, next to Sam’s! I’m not taking it on a set. I’m just going to work the way I’ve always worked, which is just to get on with it.”

“I hope it won’t change anything in how other directors and actors work with me,” She said. The 33-year-old actress additionally admitted she is tired of wearing lavish gowns to awards ceremonies and has joked she is planning to spend the next year in comfy pyjamas.

At last she got it. Kate Winslet Won the Oscar-2009 for her role in the film “The Reader” at the 81st annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles, California, February 22, 2009.

Nominated for an Academy award for the sixth time, the British star finally claimed a statuette at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles for her portrayal of concentration camp guard Hanna Schmitz.

“OK, that fainting thing, Penelope,” She started. “I’d be lying if I hadn’t made a version of this speech before, I think I was probably eight years old and staring into the bathroom mirror. And this (holding up her statuette) would’ve been a shampoo bottle.” She said.
