Beyonce performed at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana during the Essence Music Festival on Friday, July 3. Beyonce’s look and performance were sexy as usual, with the singer wearing a glittering golden-sequined outfit and gyrating energetically. Friday’s show scored the highest attendance for this event in 15 years, with 85,000 people showing up at the Superdome. John Legend, Ne-Yo and Salt-n-Pepa were some of the other performers. Musicians at the festival paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson, the painful thought of whose recent passing was fresh on everyone’s mind. Jackson was paid a New Orleans-style homage as a band took to the stage and played, with their heads bowed, “A Closer Walk With Thee” on trumpet, trombone and tuba. Photos of him were shown on a giant screen while a recording of his voice was played.
