An official at a Paris city hall says actress Salma Hayek married her French flame billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault in a civil ceremony on Valentine’s Day.
She picked a most romantic time and place to get married. The two met in Italy in 2006, announced their engagement and had a baby, Valentina Paloma, in September 2007. They broke off their engagement last year but later made up.
It came as a surprise to many of Hayek’s fans, who were still reeling from when the couple broke off their engagement in July of 2008.
She said: “I keep telling Francois, ‘I imagine I was kissing you.’ ” The 42-year-old Ms. Hayek was nominated for an Oscar in 2003 for the film “Frida”. The 46-year-old Mr. Pinault is chief executive of the French luxury group PPR. He also owns high-end labels such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Puma.
Francois-Henri is one of France’s richest men and has an estimated fortune of $16.9 billion.
