Maria Sharapova’s performance at the Australian Open on Monday wasn’t the only thing getting bad reviews: message boards lit up with commenters slamming her outfit.
Since winning the Australian Open women’s title in 2008, Maria Sharapova has made it past the fourth round of a major tournament just once.
Maria Sharapova returned to the Australian Open this afternoon for the first time since winning it all in 2008. And Maria walked off the court a winner. Unfortunately for Sharapova, the winner was countrywoman Maria Kirilenko.
Kirilenko jolted the first Grand Slam of the 2010 season into overdrive in the first match at Rod Laver Arena, upsetting Sharapova 7-6 (4), 3-6, 5-3 in a three-hour, 12-minute marathon during which Sharapova committed 77 unforced errors.
