The 19-year-old is currently taking a break from shooting the Stephenie Meyer saga working on The Runaways, a biopic of the 70′s teenage rock band of the same name. In the coming-of-age drama Kristen plays iconic punk rocker Joan Jett and has so immersed herself in the role that she’s not only dyed her hair jet black and cut it into short, choppy layers, but has taken to wearing Jett’s shoes.
Joan’s presence makes her appear adamant about ensuring Kristen nails the role which can only be a good thing for the film. There is also a report floating around that Kristen is wearing a pair of Joan’s 1970′s shoes for good luck.
“Joan actually used to wear them back in the 70s,” revealed a source to US magazine, The National Enquirer.” She thought wearing them would help with the movie’s authenticity.” And rumours are circulating that Kristen has found them so useful in connecting with Jett that she’s taken to wearing them even when off-set.
Talking about portraying Miss Jett, Kristen said, “I’m trying to just make myself aware of the time period and what she was going through. So many people know her as just being like one of the coolest people to ever live. That in itself is one of the most intimidating things that I’ve ever had to confront but she’s so cool too.”
