Miss North Carolina USA Crowned MISS USA 2009 April 19th. The highly anticipated 2009 Miss USA Pageant took place on April 19, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT.
“My Name is Earl” star Nadine Velazquez and Billy Bush of “Access Hollywood” hosted the 58th Annual MISS USA Pageant from the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in one of the world’s most electrifying cities, Las Vegas.
The newly crowned Miss USA 2009 is Miss Carolina Kristen Dalton. She is 22 years old and is from Wilmington, North Carolina. She is an aspiring motivational speaker. 51 contestants from the U.S.A. representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Miss USA 2009 judges are Robert Earl, Shandi Finnessey, Willie Geist, Brian Graden, Shelley Hennig, Perez Hilton, Alicia Jacobs, Claudia Jordan, John Miller, Kelly Monaco, Kenan Thompson and Eric Trump.
What is the difference between Miss America and Miss USA? The pageants are often confused, but the main difference is that the latter does not have a talent competition. Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart puts it this way. “Miss America is the girl next door,” she says. “But, Miss USA is the girl you wish lived next door.”
Miss California, Carrie Prejean was asked by Perez Hilton at the 2009 Miss USA Pageant, whether or not she believed in gay marriage, her answer was less than thrilling for the judges. In response to his question, she said, “We live in a land where you can choose same sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”
In proof of the statement, while still an unknown, Academy Award winning actress Halle Berry was the first runner-up in the 1986 Miss USA pageant.
