One would like to believe that if Rajnikant calls, the world would stop and listen. Well, it’s still true but looks like some of our senior actresses isn’t as enamoured by the aura of Rajni as he would like to believe. While an Aishwarya Rai or Deepika Padukone or even a Vidya Balan signs on the dotted line, it appears the southern superstar is facing difficulty from unlikely quarters – no one wants to play the role opposite the older Rajni in his next flick ‘Rana’.
A few weeks ago, Madhuri Dixit had refused the role saying it wasn’t meaty enough. Then it was said that Rekha had been approached and she had even agreed. But now comes the shocker that Re has refused it too. The reason apparently is monetary issues. She believes she deserves much more than what is being offered. Sources say perhaps even Vidya might not do the role as she reportedly wanted the script before hand and the producers were not too keen to indulge her.
Now, the filmmakers are trying to rope in Hema Malini for the role that was offered to Rekha. But will she take the bait? Whatever be the outcome, Rana, which was supposed to start in April this year is being stuck because the film can’t find leading ladies for the hero! The film stars Rajnikant in a triple role and Deepi is cast opposite the younger Rajni.
